WELCOME
TO BLONDEVINTAGE.COM
I have
been in fashion for as long as I have been a blonde
(approx. 20years). I have worked for fashion-forward
department stores. Over 20 yrs ago, I started as a sales
associate and ended my professional department store
career as Director of Stores.
About a
year ago my friend, Rhonda (also a die-hard blonde and a
fab fashionista), and I decided that it was time to
start to downsize our collections. We decided to rent
some space in a co-op in Chicago called BAM (6130 N.
Broadway). It has been a great success for our local
Chicago regulars. After meeting with some NY stylists,
we realized we were limited geographically. The idea of
starting a website seemed like a no-brainer. As a
result, BLONDEVINTAGE.COM was born.
Expect to
see vintage fashion that is wearable and yet truly
amazing. No freak vintage here. We love the 70's
–although we are not old enough to really remember
them. Labels we love are vintage Lanvin, Gucci, some
Pucci, some Lilli Ann, Estevez, Ossie Clark, and we are
wild for vintage Halston. We will also feature some
labels that may be lesser known but have fabulous
silhouettes. In addition, we love vintage statement
jewelry. We adore huge necklaces and pendants especially
those 70’s Lanvin pendants and Pierre Cardin. For those
of you who have some treasures you want to sell, see our
FAQ section for a new kind of “vintage consignment”.
We live by
some simple image rules:
-
If you
are larger than a size 2, black is your
friend. Black can be your enemy if it is your entire
wardrobe.
-
Don’t
go cheap on shoes and handbags. It is a cardinal
sin. Use jewelry to create your own personal style.
-
Unique
vintage does not mean freak vintage. Some things
are just better off left in the past. The secret
with wearing vintage is that no one should be able
to tell it is vintage. If it screams vintage then
it is freak vintage.
-
Comfortable = soccer mom with minivan. We love
jeans, but please wear them with heels or other fab
shoes.
-
Fashion should never be stressful. Always have
three "go-to" outfits: work, casual and
party. Yesterday I had to use my "go-to" work outfit
(Dolce and Gabbana black smart, but sexy suit)
because I overslept. Change your "go-to" outfits by
season and annually.
-
Stay
true to yourself, but try something new once a
season. I think I look best as a blonde, but I
change the shade every season. This spring I really
branched out and added bangs. Rhonda and I think you
do either bangs or botox once you are in your
mid-thirties. We agree bangs are better.
We hope
you love out site. Let us know what you think. Thank
you for visiting us. Most importantly enjoy…
